This Combined Program allows students to join their interest in Psychology with interests in Computer Science.
Students will be admitted to the program at the end of first year. Contact an advisor in either Psychology or Computer Science early in first year.
Students in this program work towards a Bachelor of Science Degree as a Combined Major in Psychology and Computer Science
Although students are considered to be equally part of both Computer Science and Psychology, the "home" department for students in this Combined Program will be the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences.
This program has an optional co-op component. Students in this program are able to access co-op placements from both the Faculty of Social Science and the Faculty of Engineering.
Psychology and Computer Science are enjoying a growing interdisciplinary relationship. Psychological concepts are important in designing effective user interfaces for software/hardware, for understanding and working with artificial intelligence, in methods of biological perception, and in determining neural modes of computation. Careers for students with these skills can be found in software and hardware design, robotics, medical technology, bio and psycho metrics, evaluation and rehabilitation, artificial intelligence systems, and research -- to name just a few areas.
