There has never been a better time to be a woman in Engineering and Computer Science!
The Faculty of Engineering is committed to increasing the number of women who enroll and graduate from Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Victoria.
Women in Engineering and Computer Science (WECS) is a faculty sponsored program whose mission is to encourage more women and girls to consider Engineering or Computer Science as a career and to support them in their decision once they arrive at UVic. To do this, we reach out to girls in the community, providing information and role models. We also strive to make changes to the established culture and teaching methods in the Faculty.
We encourage teachers, parents, and students in the community to invite us to introduce both Engineering and Computer Science to young students, by holding events that inspire, educate, and build a sense of community, such as: Mothers & Daughters workshops, Guest speakers and Lego Robotics festivals and other workshops.
